I was playing around late one evening (my usual work time) and I was playing with OCF (off camera flash). Basically, I was being a dork and taking pictures of myself or more specifically, my new Titleist hat that took me 2 weeks to final decide to buy.
Anyway here’s one of the first shots that I took.
I took this shot using one flash and was just playing around with the position of the light and how it wrapped around an object. It was then I thought, “What the hell? I have a big speck of dust on my camera sensor!” I zoomed into the photograph to see what the heck the dark spot was on my hat. Click the picture above to get a close up view of what I saw!
That’s right a big ole nasty ——– !! If you know me and how much they love me and how much I hate them you would not be surprised to find that I spent the next hour tracking it down and finally killing it. I would not have gotten a lick of sleep that night know that it was coming to get me and get me it would.
Finally, my final hat logo shot. One flash and some white paper used as a reflector to reduce the contrast. It’s a great hat by the way!
Guess what I am…
A Simple Human automatic soap dispenser with clear soap (yummy watermelon) added to the previous Soft Soap.
How it was photographed…
The close ups were shot using a single strobe (see previous posts) to the left and slightly from behind the rear of the soap dispenser. Because the dispenser is curved it was difficult to light without reflections in the clear plastic. I used a rigid place mat as a gobo ( which is a fancy term for something that blocks the light to anywhere you don’t want it.
A few friends came to visit us today, one new, others old (not age wise). Our new friend that came to visit was Harper who happens to be a Vizsla! She was a very gentle and content dog who was just happy to be around people.
Harper obviously didn’t run all the way to Cloverdale from downtown. She had to get a ride from Mark who promptly ate all our food and drank our beer (just kidding). He’ll hate the picture I’m sure but maybe that’ll make him setup a photo shoot with me!
Our other friend Sarah came by too but sadly no pictures of her this time. Next time though!
Day 2 of our Seattle trip. Today we hit downtown Seattle for a little walk-about and some shopping (of course). I have two photos of the day for today. The first is of a street performer that played the harmonica and guitar while simultaneously hula hooping! Just myself photographing with 8 Asian tourists. I guess that would make 9 Asian tourists!! hahaha…
Next photo was of an alley just as a guy on a BMW adventure bike ripped up. I guess he only gets to ride in the city and it’s as close he gets to being offroad!
We drove down to Seattle today to do some shopping and have a bit of a vacation. We didn’t arrive at the hotel until 10:30 pm which means we were shopping for roughly 10 hours or so no including our 2 hours of travel time. Dinner was something we were especially looking forward to so it becomes the photo of the day. Presenting the Shrimp Trio at Red Lobster!! Oh it was shrimp goodness!!! Breaded butterfly shrimp, shrimp scampi, shrimp fettuccine, salad, baked potato, and warm savoury biscuits! Stuffed. Absolutely stuffed.
